It is important to remember that everyone has their own challenges, often hidden from view. You never know what someone else may be going through in their life. While people may appear cheerful at work, it is difficult to truly understand the struggles they may be facing outside of their professional roles.”

An employee for over 25 years, Carlos suffered facial injuries and considerable damage to his teeth as a youth. He was very self-conscious. It severely affected his quality of life. He did not have insurance, or savings necessary to remedy the situation. The Foundation assisted him with a grant and he received necessary dental treatment over a six month period.

From Carlos: There are no words to explain how thrilled I am; it changed everything. Now, I can smile again.

I was in desperate need of a car as my other one broke down on me. I really needed a car to get to and from work and to also help my mother transport my younger sibling to school and daycare. I reached out to the foundation and they provided me a loan for which I am forever grateful. I don’t know what I would have done if it wasn’t for the foundation.

Shayna, a 9-year employee of Mariner Sands lives with her partner, where they care for his elderly parents who have serious limitations and health issues. A special vehicle was required to transport them to their medical appointments in wheelchairs. Shayna appealed to the Foundation for help and was given an interest-free loan to buy a specially equipped used van.

From Shayna: What a relief, we can get them to the doctors in a proper vehicle and avoid expensive transportation. I had no one else to turn to, thank you Mariner Sands.
